Job Description – Support Worker

Responsible to: Assistant House Manager/ House Manager

Responsible for: Volunteers/ Service Users 

 

Salary: SP 12             Actual:  £17,076.00

Shift Patterns/ evenings/ weekends & sleep in

Hours: 40/52

JOB PURPOSE

To assist in making sure that Camphill Wakefield meets the high standards of education, training and care within its own set of ideals and principles as well as meeting the expectations and guidelines of the placing authorities and inspectorates.

Key responsibilities:

MAIN

  1. Partake in team meeting within your house and service user meetings and take action on any outcomes in the absence of the House Manager/Assistant House Manager.
  2. You may, from time to time, be appointed to manage the house in the absence of the House Manager/Assistant House Manager.
  3. Preparing for and representing the organisation at CQC inspections.
  4. Contributing to the preparation and reporting for Ofsted inspections.
  5. Ensure that all learning aims are implemented within the residential provision and recorded
  6. The promotion of Equality and Diversity in Care.
  7. Ensuring that service user care and welfare needs are assessed and met.
  8. Undertake a key working role as laid out by Camphill Wakefield’s policies and procedures.
  9. Contribute to all reports in relation to your service users within your care.
  10. If required by the House Manager attending parents' Weekends.
  11. Review and update Care Plans, Risk Assessments, Support plans or any other documentation relevant to the service users within your care home with authorisation from your House Manager/Assistant House Manager.
  12. Ensure that all documentation regarding day to day management of the care home updated and in place in relation to CQC and National Minimum Standards.
  13. Administering of medication in accordance with Policies and Procedures.
  14. Contribute to all reports in relation to your service users within your care.
  15. To effectively supervise volunteers.
  16. Liaise with other agencies involved with the service users to ensure the provision of integrated services.
  17. To ensure all safeguarding/protection requirements are adhered to and met.
  18. To support, gather and record progression of all service users.
  19. To carry out all personal care tasks in a way that demonstrates respect for privacy, dignity and value of all service users in line with support plans.
  20. To provide the highest standard of care and support to individuals with LD and who are on Autistic Spectrum Disorder, supporting people with ASD in achieving positive and meaningful outcomes in line with any person-centred plans.
  21. To attend and abide by all safeguarding training and practices as set out in the Organisation’s policies and procedures and to notify line managers of any suspected safeguard issues.
  22. To undertake a verity of domestic tasks with and around the residential houses.
  23. To record expenditure of services users in line with Camphill Wakefield policies and procedures.
  24. To support service users with education/trainee timetable.
  25. Ensure ‘handover’ is completed at the end of every shift.

Communities House Team

  1. As member of the house team, attending regular house meetings.
  2. Reporting on progress, achievement and challenges to the House Manager.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Working according to the policies and guidelines of the organisation.
  2. To be committed to Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
  3. Improving your own understanding of the values that underpin the work in the organisation by attending relevant induction and training.
  4. Respect confidentiality at all times.
  5. There will be times when you may be required to undertake additional tasks, duties and responsibilities within your capabilities and may be asked to undertake an alternative job on a temporary basis.  However, you will not ordinarily be assigned to duties or required to perform services which you cannot reasonably perform or are outside the range of your normal skills and experience.
