Job Description – Senior Support Worker

Responsible to: VP Care

Responsible for: Staff With in the Assigned House and service users

Salary: SP 22             Actual: 21,996.43      

Hours: 40 / 52

 

JOB PURPOSE

Making sure that Camphill Wakefield meets the high standards of education, training and care within its own set of ideals and principles as well as meeting the expectations and guidelines of the placing authorities and inspectorates.

You will be required to support the Care Manager in providing a quality service to the people we support.

 As such, you will meet the personal support needs of the service users in a way which promotes dignity, privacy, respect, community integration and community participation.

You will need to be flexible with your working hours as you may be required to work weekends on a rotational basis. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification is required.

  • Undertake regular team meetings within your house and service user meetings in line with CQC and National Minimum Standards and take action on any outcomes.
  • To cover various shift, taking responsibility for the physical and emotional well-being and social needs of our residents
  • Taking overall responsibility for the budgets in your residential house and submit monthly reports.
  • Preparing for and representing the organisation at CQC inspections.
  • Contributing to the preparation and reporting for Ofsted inspections.
  • Together with Education, support to implement learning aims within the residential provision.
  • Together with the Head of Care respond to any outcomes highlighted by inspections.
  • The promotion of Equality and Diversity in Care.
  • Ensuring that learners’ care and welfare needs are assessed and met.
  • Attending reviews and from time to time presenting the work of the organisation at such events.
  • Compile and implement Care Plans, Risk Assessments, Behaviour support plans or any other documentation relevant to the service users in line with the quality improvement cycle
  • Ensure that all documentation regarding day to day management of the care home are in place in relation to CQC and National Minimum Standards.
  • Ordering and administering of medication including undertaking monthly audits
  • Attending annual reviews regarding the service users within your care.
  • Contribute to all reports in relation to your service users within your care.
  • To have responsibility for all care staff and volunteers within your house.
  • To effectively supervise house staff team and volunteers.
  • Liaise with other agencies involved with the service users to ensure the provision of integrated services.
  • Assisting residents with personal care activities such as washing, personal hygiene, dressing and assisting with meal as well as supervision supervising support workers to carry out the above
  • Ensure that Health and Safety requirements are adhered to and met.
  • To notify the Care Manager of any issues relating to the learner and to ensure support staff complete relevant documentation on time.
  • To carry out all personal care tasks in a way that demonstrates respect for privacy, dignity and value of all service users in line with support plans.
  • To provide the highest standard of care and support to individuals with learning difficulties and special needs in achieving positive and meaningful outcomes in line with any person-centred plans.
  • Ensuring staff are completing daily duties
  • To attend and abide by all safeguarding training and practices as set out in the Organisation’s policies and procedures and to notify line managers of any suspected safeguard issues.
  • To undertake holiday cover where directed by VP Care.
  • To undertake house audits half termly or as directed by the Care Management
  • Helping to maintain accurate records, undertaking ongoing training and getting involved in welcoming and training new staff
  • To make yourself available for house inspections and to act on any recommendations given by VP Care and Care Manager.
  • To attend all meeting regarding the service uses within your care or as directed by the head of care
  • To assist the Care Manager in the planning of co-ordination of shifts, ensuring 1:1 support is planned as needed as well as the facilitation of appointments, reviews and planned activities.
  • Ensure that the facilities that you are responsible for are cleaned regularly, safe and well maintained.

House Management Team

  • As member of House Management team, attending regular House Managers meetings.
  • Reporting on progress, achievement and challenges to the Head of Care.
  • Contribute to the development and review of all policies, procedures and Documents stated in the Quality Improvement Plan.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This role will include shifts, evening and weekend work, occasional sleep-ins and some on-call duties in the event of an emergency.
