Placements at Camphill Wakefield are usually funded via the local authority, who consult with Camphill Wakefield as a result of the annual review of the EHCP.
For families, the first step is usually a visit to campus.
Then one of our admissions team may visit the young person’s current school.
Information is gathered from families, schools and any professionals involved with the young person.
We also hope this year to offer taster days where potential students can experience a day in the life of a Camphill student. We use these as an opportunity to get to know the student and contribute to our decision making process if/when the Local Authority consult with us. This is when we are asked whether we can meet the young person’s special educational needs and offer a placement.
Once funding is agreed, all information gathered in the enquiry/assessment/admissions process is used in conjunction with visits in the summer term to formulate a smooth transition. Pastoral staff also use the information to write care and support plans.
We hope that this virtual event has given you a better idea of what we can offer potential students. If you have any further questions or would like to speak with our admissions team please contact Morven Simpson on the following:
