We offer further education study programmes in 2 areas: Land and Craft.
Both Camphill Wakefield Study Programmes include
Land Study Programme
Our vocational pathways are:
This takes place in the campus grounds where we have a farm and a two acre vegetable garden. Animal care students are actively involved in all aspects of farm management and animal care. Our herd of Dexter cows was chosen for its size and suitability for handling by our students. The sheep and pigs provide further hands on experience. The students will learn about other aspects of farm management, including stock rotation, pasture management, field maintenance and egg production. Our gardens and orchards provide many of the vegetables and fruit used on site. This provides students with the ability to understand how their food arrives at the table, alongside developing practical skills needed in the workplace. Wakefield Riding for the Disabled is also based on site, giving students the opportunity to learn horse care and stable management as well as horse riding.
Pathways are offered at different levels
Student's outcomes include:
Students receive a range of support depending on their assessed needs. We offer education support throughout the day, structured and supervised break and lunchtimes. Access to speech and language therapy and occupational therapy. Camphill Wakefield is a Makaton centre.
Craft Study Programme
Our vocational pathways are :
We have a variety of workshops in our Education Hub. Our students have the opportunity to work in the woodwork, pottery and textiles workshops using a variety of different media. Craft skills develop the hands on practice of crafts and allow the development of gross and fine motor skills as well as developing routines, concentration, problem solving skills, working with others and timekeeping.
Post production, the students explore the need to develop and create markets for sales at craft fairs, online and onsite. Meeting and dealing with members of the public are key elements enabled by this selling process.
