Salary: SP 42             Amount: £37,236.97

Hours: 37.5 / 52

JOB PURPOSE

Making sure that Camphill Wakefield meet the high standards of education, training and care within its own set of ideals and principles as well as meeting the expectations and guidelines of the placing authorities and inspectorates.

 

The Vice Principal – Education and Quality Assurance is a member of the leadership group, and will support the College Principal in the day to day management and running of the College.

The office holder will be required to bring an additional degree of structure and transparency to the management of the educational provision of the College by formalising communication structures between the College Principal and other management teams.

This post has management responsibility for teaching and learning and for ensuring that sufficient and appropriate high quality provision is in place to meet the learning needs of students that are enrolled at the college and that it is effectively organised.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. As a member of the leadership group, taking a lead role to review, plan and implement all educational provision
  2. To provide leadership and oversight for the timetabling process for individual students
  3. Overseeing the work of the education group and the quality assurance arrangements for teaching, learning and assessment in the sessions
  4. Overseeing the selection and delivery of study programmes and managing the implementation of the accredited and non-accredited curriculum in line with the college RARPA system.
  5. Working closely with  select  members  of  the  SMT  and  other  staff  to  develop  curriculum across the College

Main areas

  1. To work closely with the Principal to drive the strategic vision of the trustees within the operation of the College.
  2. To hold regular meetings with the tutor groups and the senior tutors in order to oversee Pedagogical and methodological delivery of curriculum and ensure the learning journeys of students
  3. As required, to act as the Ofsted nominee
  4. To lead the College self-assessment and quality improvement process, ensuring that this is reviewed and updated constantly, and that there is regular review of the actions implemented for effectiveness and that the quality improvement plan is brought in line with this.
  5. To lead and conduct regular session observations, maintaining accurate data in relation to Tutor performance and student learning and to report to the leadership group on a half termly basis
  6. To work closely with the Education group in addressing any achievement gaps as identified by the termly data capture
  7. To ensure all teaching staff have the appropriate trainings and report any shortcomings to the HR dept.
  8. In collaboration with the Education group to develop teaching methodologies so that the learning assistants can support and progress students towards their target and to mitigate safeguarding risk through accurate robustly session planning.
  9. To ensure effective performance management across all teams responsible for to include mentoring, management of KPI’s and regular supervisions and performance and development reviews.
  10. To be part of the duty on-call team, and to be a trained Safeguarding officer.

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To work co - operatively with other staff within the College
  2. To work with students as and when required.
  3. To maintain exemplary standards of professionalism, honesty and respect at all times, and not abuse the privilege of access to confidential information.
  4. To be responsible for the care and development for your working area
  5. To attend meetings and supervision as required.
  6. To deliver training or development opportunities as required.
  7. To undertake work related continued professional development (CPD) as required by the post. You may, from  time  to  time  be  required  to  work  additional  hours  as  shall  be  reasonably  necessary  to  discharge  properly  your  duties  and  responsibilities  outlined in this job description.
  8. To undertake any other duties appropriate to this level of post which will evolve as the job progresses until the job description is reviewed.
